DIAT’s Aerospace Department has been nothing short of phenomenal. The program's structure is ingenious, starting with core aerospace principles during the first semester, which helps students from other backgrounds build a rock-solid foundation. This sets the stage for in-depth specialization options in the second semester, allowing me to truly tailor my education to my specific interests.

However, the learning extends beyond textbooks. Participating in a National Aerospace Conceptual Design Competition (NACDeC VI) under the guidance of our incredibly experienced professors was a game-changer. Their mentorship helped me navigate a steep learning curve and gain practical skills that can't be replicated in a classroom.

Enrolling in the M Tech Aerospace program at DIAT was an enlightening experience. The department's faculty members demonstrated unparalleled expertise, fostering a conducive environment for scholarly growth. Their dedication and commitment have significantly contributed to shaping adept professionals, equipped to navigate the intricacies of technological advancements. The knowledge and skills acquired during my tenure have proven invaluable, particularly in addressing the evolving needs of the Indian Army.  One aspect that truly stood out was the department's dedication to fostering a strong network of alumni. Even after completing the course, our Head of Department continued to stay in touch, providing guidance and support whenever needed. I am immensely grateful for the exemplary guidance and support provided by the faculty, which has undoubtedly played a pivotal role in my professional journey.

DIAT is a good college where we can meet and learn from different people from different domains like DRDO scientists, Defence personnel, research students and other industry professionals. It has given me good exposure, a rich learning experience and a clear-cut idea on how to drive my career. I am very much thankful to all staffs who had supported me especially Ganapati Joshi sir who has been extremely supportive and been a very good guide during my years in DIAT. He greatly cares for the welfare of his students and is a person who is approachable even after years

It was great experience at the Dept. of Aerospace Engineering, DIAT during my stay from 2013 – 2015.  Faculty was very friendly, helpful and motivating.  Learning at the department was very valuable for my current job profile as well for future projects.  The subjects covered during the program were unique and are not available in any other M. Tech program in the country.

Graduating with a PhD in control systems from the Aerospace Engineering Department of DIAT has been an extraordinary journey. The guidance and mentorship of our esteemed faculty propelled me towards academic excellence, offering invaluable insights and expertise. The state-of-the-art control engineering laboratory provided an immersive learning environment, allowing for hands-on experimentation and innovation. Within a competitive research environment, I thrived, driven by a collaborative spirit that fostered innovation and excellence. I am proud to have been part of this dynamic community, equipped with the skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of aerospace control systems with confidence.

Our batch was a good blend of young ones who joined through GATE and a few sponsored candidates from Services and DRDO. I being a sponsored candidate by DRDO, it was quite challenging of going buds to books due to reasonable gap from studies.  

Initially, during first semester it was really tough to solve the mathematical problems. In fact, being a student from Electrical & Electronics, it was a tough task to be at par with others to cope up with Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering subjects. However, I recall the help extended by my classmates and professors of Aerospace Engg. Dept. by which this all challenges could be mitigated so easily & comfortably. Later on, from second semester onwards Avionics, instrumentations in addition to Aerodynamics and Aerospace designing subjects were resolved & understood due to united efforts of self & faculties.

The faculties of Aerospace department were very cooperative and had practical approach for technology. I could have a good feel of aerodynamics during laboratory sessions of subsonic and hypersonic wind tunnel facility etc.

The guidance and help extended by course coordinator was exceptional. I am highly thankful to all professors and staff of Aerospace Department for their commendable efforts during my course. Because of which I was able to complete my M. tech program in UAVs with good grades.

A highly qualified faculty with in-depth knowledge and hold in the subject matter. The dept as a whole takes personal care and attention to each and every student. The faculty very well understands the job profile of serving officers and assist them in learning the subject in relation to their service.

The teaching and assessment are well curated targeting the requirement of each and every student.

The two years spent in the College and especially the Dept has definitely helped me boost my confidence in the subject matter and improved my overall performance in my service thereafter. Infact the two years has built a lifelong relationship with the dept faculty. My heartfelt thanks to one and all in the dept. 

I am Dr Bhavnesh Panchal from Udaipur, Rajasthan. I graduated from Government Engineering College Ajmer with a degree in electronics engineering. With the motive to pursue a research career, I appeared for the GATE examination and subsequently applied for the postgraduate courses.

I secured admission in M.Tech Guided Missile course at DIAT Aerospace Department. Joining DIAT was one of the best decisions for my academics and research career. Guided Missiles is an interdisciplinary subject, my engineering major was electronics,  however, under the guidance of highly qualified professors at DIAT, I could learn the basics of guided missiles. At DIAT, students are admitted from different organisations like defence R&D laboratories, armed forces and from Industries. We also benefited from the experience and expertise of our classmates. Expert’s lectures and Courses delivered by DRDO Scientist makes this institute very unique. Advanced Technology related unique courses were also in our curriculum. During my M.Tech itself I became familiar with interdisciplinary subjects required for the research. I also published a conference paper during my M.Tech. After M.Tech, I continued my PhD study at Aerospace Dept. of DIAT.

Hostel facilities, gymnasium, sports facilities are very good in the institution. Library is also equipped with varieties of technical books, research journals and digital library subscription. M.Tech and PhD from DIAT helped me greatly to get offers from Industries and teaching jobs.   Presently I am working as ISRO Scientist in Control and Guidance Domain.
